Legacy Teachers share ideas on Formative Assessment

On Friday, Feb 28th, all Legacy teachers spent time sharing and discussing the best ways to assess whether students are “getting it” or understanding concepts taught in real time – while they are teaching. Formative assessments are not normally done for a grade. Instead, they are used by the teacher to gauge where students are in understanding a concept. Teachers use this informal data to adapt instruction and reteach concepts.

A few tools teachers at Legacy use are:                                                                                   -iPad APPs: Socrative, Near Pod                                                                                            -Online programs like: Quiz Star, Survey Monkey, Edmodo, Poll Everywhere, Google Drive                                                                                                                                         -Teacher created ideas like: Jeopardy Games, Exit Tickets, KWL Charts, Thumbs up/Thumbs down
